ABOUT AzRISE

AzRISE, a global institute at the University of Arizona, creates multi-disciplinary partnerships that integrate research, economics, public policy and education.  Spanning academia, industry and government, these partnerships are creating the solar energy innovations essential to securing a sustainable future.  The Institute was created in 2007 to provide the leadership for selecting strategic directions for research, development and analysis, for enabling the formation of strategic teams and for guiding activities that will accelerate the adoption and deployment of solar energy in the state, nation and world.

A combination of volatile energy prices, the mandate to reduce carbon dioxide emissions through renewable clean energy, and the call for energy security in the national interest, have created a critical need to develop a course of action. This course of action must be measured,  thoughtful, based on sound technical data and economic models, and innovation.  AzRISE has responded to this range of challenges by creating multidisciplinary partnerships with the goal of driving innovative solar energy solutions, grounded in sound research, economic and public policy that work to transform the lives of individuals and communities. The Arizona Research Institute for Solar Energy is driving innovative responses that:

  •      Transform science into large and small-scale solar energy solutions that are demonstrable and can transform individual lives.
  •      Seed innovations that drive economic growth and environmental health;
  •      Foster multidisciplinary approaches that translate and expedite ideas born in research labs into marketplace solutions.
  •      Inspire innovations that form large-scale storage solutions to smaller scale applications like fully sustainable homes and solar-fueled cars.
